Basketball Court Dimensions & Marking Guide
Under official FIBA international rules, a regulation basketball court measures 28.00 meters long by 15.00 meters wide (91′ 10″ × 49′ 2.5″), with a required 2.0-meter unobstructed runoff buffer on all four sides.

Step-by-Step Basketball Court Striping Guide (With Diagrams)
Step 1 — Boundary Envelope & Safety Runoff (32m × 19m)
FIBA mandates a minimum 2.00-meter safety runoff on all four sides (32.0m × 19.0m overall pad envelope) clear of team benches and tables. Verify a minimum 7.00m vertical clearance to ceiling trusses and light fixtures.
Step 2 — Establish Baseline 1 (Corners 1 & 2 = 15.00m)
Drive Corner 1 stake, measure along the baseline exactly 15.00 meters (49′ 2.5″), and drive Corner 2 stake. Snap a crisp chalk baseline between both corners.
Step 3 — The 31.765m Pythagorean Diagonal Lock (Corner 4)
Pull Tape 1 (28.00m) along the sideline from Corner 1, and Tape 2 (31.765m diagonal) from Corner 2. Where both marks cross under tension, drive Corner 4 at a guaranteed 90.00° angle.
Step 4 — Complete 28m × 15m Box & Verify Diagonals
Repeat triangulation from Corner 2 (pulling 28.00m) and Corner 1 (pulling 31.765m) to set Corner 3. Cross-check both full diagonals: both must equal 31.765 meters (104′ 3″) within 5mm.
Step 5 — Center Line (14.00m) & Center Circle (R=1.80m)
Measure 14.00 meters along each sideline to snap the center dividing line. Anchor a steel trammel wire at mid-court (7.50m from sidelines) and swing a 1.80m radius circle (3.60m diameter).
Step 6 — Free Throw Lane (5.80m) & 3-Point Arc (6.75m)
Measure 5.80m from the inside baseline for the 3.60m free throw line (4.90m wide rectangular key). Anchor the trammel wire plumb below the center of the hoop (1.575m from baseline) and swing the 6.75m radius 3-point arc, extending parallel to the sidelines 0.90m inward.
